In 2015, Chris Hope visited a friend’s child who was in cancer treatment in Memphis, Tennessee. In the room next door, a mother with her child in treatment, both far from home, sat fretting about how she would make her next mortgage payment in their hometown.
You see, when childhood cancer and other life-threatening illnesses take families away from their home lives for treatment, it also takes moms and dads away from their jobs. It takes kids away from the comfort of their own belongings.
After talking with the mother next door, Chris Hope wanted to help. He and some friends pooled together their money and made a financial gift to the family — enough to cover their mortgage payment that month.
The Chris Hope Foundation was born on that day.
Our mission is to help families fill the household financial gaps they are left with when 100% of their attention and hope is unexpectedly redirected to helping their child fight life-threatening childhood illness. We do this by giving monetary gifts and other support that help them in their personal lives while their child is in treatment.
“No matter how scared and worried you may be, there will always good people who will be there to help you in your time of need.
madison received the diagnosis of stage IV brain cancer when she was 4 years old.
The chris hope foundation was there to help. When I first met Chris, he met us with open arms and the biggest, warmest smile that was so comforting in a time that was very sensitive and stressful.
Never give up hope.”
